The Groundbreaking, First Blog Post!

Welcome to the all new Keertan.Org BLOG! The first keertan blog of the New York, New Jersey Region. We, the administrators of keertan.org, will be posting on this blog as frequently as possible on new and interesting topics. We cannot make any promises that we will have a new article everyday, but we will try our best. Please keep in mind that the main writers of the blog are full-time University students that are doing this seva for keertan.org during our free time.In this blog, some articles will be written very formally, and others will be quite frank and casual. Regardless of style and tone, we will attempt to maintain an academic approach to our writings by including citations and sources to outside material, reassuring our readers of the points we are making. This blog will also serve as a medium for many types of Sikh related information and discussion, and we plan on writing in such a way so that we can also appeal to a wider audience including non-Sikh readers, keertan listeners and downloaders. Therefore, to maintain a common ground of Gurmukhi and/or Punjabi vocabulary, we will try our best to give definitions of words alongside the Gurmukhi word, but in parenthesis. Eventually in the future, we plan on compiling a list of basic vocabulary on this site.

The audio on this site will continue to be updated as always; a wide variety of the latest Keertan and Katha programs in the East Coast will be added frequently. Some may be local keertan and katha programs, others may be international samagams. Everything depends on the events in the New York, New Jersey Region, and broadly the East Coast United States. Check out the program section for a brief list of events in the region.

Please come visit us again, and by that time, we will have plenty of stuff for you to read on some juicy topics. May Akaal Purakh (the timeless being – Supreme Lord) give us the strength and courage to continue these “new-age” sevas (voluntary efforts) in cyber space for many years to come. Let us begin our new venture on this website with a pankti by Guru Amar Daas Sahib .

This selfless service, meditation and devotion is true, if you eliminate selfishness and conceit from within.
