Gurmukh Rooh Bhai Surat Singh (Pooran Jee) Has Left For SachKhand
Vaaheguroo jee kaa Khaalsaa! Vaaheguroo jee kee Fateh!!
What a gem! No, what am I saying – a gem is too little; Perhaps even billions of gems wouldn’t come near valuing our dearest, beloved, Guru-ke-piyaaray, Jathedar Soorat Singh jee Pooran Jee. We were in Aasaa-Kee-Vaar Keertan at the first program of the annual December Samaagam at Toronto, when the news came. The mood changed. It felt like a incalculable loss; the heart felt heavy. Did we see the last of Pooran jee
on his recent trip to Toronto? Alas, I didn’t do enough of his sevaa; enough of his sangat. Even when he came to visit, I forgot his age, his physical condition and didn’t make his sitting much comfortable. Will I be forgiven? Oh! what a Gursikh? Even in the weakest of his conditions he never stopped his Ammritvelaa programs; his “preet” to be ready at 12:00am, complete with Ammrit-sakesh-ishnaan and be in the midst of Gursikh friends, all in enthusiasm to dive into the Ammrit Sarovar of Sukhmani Sahib and Abhyaas! Dhunn Gursikh! Dhunn Gursikhi!! Spirits were now in elation. Vadhaayeean! Vadhaayeean! that Satguroo made sure that his Gursikh’s preet never slackened till his last breath.
There are so many in Toronto who were blessed with the warmth of his pyaar. I am a servant to all of them. I wish I had done just a bit of sevaa that so many others loaded on buckets full. Please Gursikho, khimaa kareyo jeeo…Vaaheguroo
Mil kay! mil kay!! He would admonish egoistic ones like me. Match your “kook” with the Sangat such that it is indistinguishable from the others. I pray that I can learn to kill my ego like that. There were many priceless lessons he gave. In the coming days, I hope others can share all of them.
This morning as the Shabads were being sung..one tuk reminded me again of Pooran Jee. “Sog Harakh nahee janiyo”. He was ever same. Always greeted others with a chuckle and hug. Even on the day he was informed that both his sons had departed in a horrible accident. Exemplary!
O’ Simar Mureedaa Dhadiyaa, O’ Simar Mureedaa Dhadiyaa, O’ Simar Mureedaa Dhadiyaa….
O’ Pyaaray Gursikh Jeeo….Vaaheguroo…Vaaheguroo…May Satguroo forever and ever keep you in the Sehaj Anand of His Charam Kamal
Please do forgive me and be there for all your pyaaray and make me their servant.
Vaaheguroo jee kaa Khaalsaa! Vaaheguroo jee kee Fateh!!

Gurmukh Pyaarey Bhai Soorat Singh Ji (Pooran jee) was a committed gurmukh Soul. He was committed to Sikh Ideals and Practical life as per Gurmat Rehat Maryada. He used to host an AMRIT VELAA session in one of the rooms in Parkarmaa of Sree Harmandar Saaheb Amritsar (Golden Temple).
Everyday He would be there at midnight and Sounds of Waheguru Waheguru would start in the room. Sangat would recite Nitnem and Sukhmani Saahab amidst backdrop of simran in a dark room and NAAM vibes emanating from the Gursikhs were so spiritual that anyone , even newcomers, would get drenched in NAAM.
Waheguru Waheguru
Saas Saas Simro Gobind
with Every Breath, Gursikhs would do Simran and Amrit Velaa Nitnem and session would end, right before the time of opening of Doors of Harmandar Saahab (around 2:10AM), after which Gursikhs would quickly walk to grab a seat in Harmandar saahab (as there are limited seats inside and first come first served basis in Sanctum Sanctorum), Keertan of Aasaa Kee Vaar would start inside.
Committing to Amrit Velaa Simran and Nitnem is one of many lessons we can learn from a Gurmukh like him.
Even if he left Amritsar to visit anywhere else, he would make sure he hosted Amrit Velaa Sessions where in local sangat would join togather for Amrit Velaa Simran and Nitnem.
Hosting sangtee Amrit Velaa sessions in our Local Gurudwara Saahab or Gursikhs’ homes would be another lesson we should learn from such pious Gurmukhs.
While in Amritsar, Gurmukh Pyaarey Pooran jee was always seen sitting in the Darbaar Saahab. Regularly going to Gurudwara Saahab and listen to Keertan is another lesson we can learn from Gurmukh Soul.
